The author, Kabine Conde, is a native of Guinea in West Africa and a member of the Mandingo tribe, which played a significant role in the formation of great empires in Africa's history. He was born in 1994 in Man, Ivory Coast, and was raised by his grandmother and aunt in various parts of Guinea after his father passed away when he was seven years old. Kabine's grandfather and aunt instilled in him the importance of respecting his elders, conducting himself by the rules of the Quran, and prioritizing his education.

In 2010, Kabine immigrated to the United States with his three brothers and mother, who had earlier moved to the US due to political instability in Guinea. Despite facing difficulties due to English not being his first language, Kabine was determined to receive a good education and get involved in athletics. He joined the soccer and track teams at his high school and also played for a prestigious travel club team, Junior Lion Star.

Kabine excelled both academically and athletically, earning recognition from the United States Marine Corps for his athletic achievements and being named an honor roll student. He also completed the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge Spirit of America Youth Leadership program and was accepted into Valley Forge Military Academy for his junior and senior years of high school.

Through his experiences in West Africa and the United States, Kabine has learned the importance of hard work, dedication, and making the most of opportunities that come his way. He is an inspiration to others who face obstacles but remain committed to achieving their goals
